WHAT IS A FLYING FOX?
Flying Fox has created India’s first zip tours – a unique and exhilarating aerial journey between hill forts and ridge tops, during which you fly down a series of ultra-strong cables or “zip lines”, attached by a harness and pulley. We opened our first course at Neemrana Fort Palace in January 2009 and our second course at Mehrangarh Fort, Jodhpur in February 2010. Flying Fox Kikar is our third location – an our longest and most exciting yet.

Our team of expertly trained instructors accompany you at every stage to ensure your safety and to entertain you their knowledge of local history, culture and ecology.

WHO CAN DO IT?
Anyone aged 10 years and above, over 1.4m / 4’ 7” high, under 115 kg, with a waist measurement of 110cm / 43 inches or less.

HOW SAFE IS IT?
Our zip tour has been designed with British expertise and our personal protective equipment is made by Petzl of France, one of the world’s leading climbing brands.Our zip tour is managed by onsite British management with extensive experience of high-wire adventure courses.Our training and operations conform to EN-15567 Part 2 – Europe’s latest standard for high ropes adventure courses. The course and all safety equipment is subject to daily, monthly and quarterly safety checks. Before starting the tour, each participant receives a comprehensive verbal and written safety brief plus the opportunity to practice on a short trial zip.

WHERE IS IT?
The Flying Fox office and start point is located in inside the main building of The Kikar Lodge. The Kikar Lodge is located near the town of Nurpur Bedi, in Ropar District, 1.5 hours drive north of Chandigarh on the road to Kasauli.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
Approximately 2 hours per zip tour. This includes approximately 20 minutes for the safety briefing, followed by the course of 5 zip wires, with shorts walks in between.It also includes rest breaks and time to listen to our historical and cultural commentary.If you have purchased a Flying Fox ticket in advance you can The Kikar Loge free of cost by presenting your ticket at the entrance. Otherwise you will be charged an entrance fee for the Lodge.

ARE THERE SPECIFIC TIMINGS AND OPERATING HOURS?
Yes. We operate to a fixed schedule. From October to March we run sessions at 0930, 1130, 1430 & 1630 every day except Wednesday, when we’re closed. Seasonally we operate from October through till the end of April.

CAN I BRING MY CHILDREN?
Children above 10 are very welcome but will need adult supervision for their own safety. One adult can supervise up to eleven (11) 10-15 year olds.If you plan to bring younger children with you, please bring an ayah or family member to supervise them while you are participating in the activity.

WHAT IF I HAVE A MEDICAL CONDITION?
Our zip tour is fairly physically demanding and requires a degree of agility, strength and stamina. If participants have medical concerns they are advised to consult their doctor in advance. Participants will be required to certify that they do not suffer from any medical condition which could result in injury to themselves or others. Due to the physical nature of the zip tour, Flying Fox insists that pregnant women do not take part.

WHAT CLOTHES SHOULD I WEAR?
Strong shoes, trainers or boots – no open-toe sandals, slip-on shoes or high heels please! Trousers or shorts – not skirts or saris Avoid short shirts or tops – waists must be covered for the harness to fit comfortably Dress for the weather, in clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty or damaged Bring a sun hat and hairbands to tie back any long hair. Flying Fox will provide a small bag to carry hats, cameras etc while on tour.

DO YOU SERVE REFRESHMENTS?
Flying Fox will provide you with complimentary drinking water while on the tour. All other food and beverage should be purchased at the Restaurant in the Lodge before or after your tour.

DO I HAVE TO SPEAK ENGLISH?
We have instructors who speak both English and Hindi, sometimes other stranger languages too!

CAN I BRING MY PHONE AND CAMERA?
Mobile phones must be switched off at all times, as they can be a distraction during your safety brief and flight time. You can leave phones in the office or in a zip pocket. You may bring small cameras, for which we can provide you a shoulder bag.
