|
| After a prolonged siege by the Mughal Army, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and 400 Sikhs were allowed to leave Anandpur Sahib on a cold and rainy night in December 1705. The Guru and his Sikhs were offered safe passage by the Emperor Aurangzeb. However, the Mughal army under the command of Wazir Khan attacked the Guru and his Sikhs when they were crossing the River Sarsa. In the ensuing confusion, most of the Sikhs died. Only a few including Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, his two eldest sons and 40 Sikhs were able to cross the river and escape. The Guru's family got separated. This Gurudwara is built on the spot where the Guru and his family were separated.
