The Kikar Lodge is located in a region replete with historical, religious and natural sites. Within a short distance are a host of interesting sites to catch your fancy. You could pay your respects at Jhiri Sahib Gurdwara, an oasis of calm with loads of atmosphere, located on The Kikar Lodge’s premises itself. Guru Gobind Singh Sahib had visited the village here and the Gurdwara is a tribute to his visit. Take the hour-long drive to Ropar, and winess its birth back to 2000 BC or the Harappan era. Stop by at the Archaeological Museum that's home to rare, ancient artifacts that include bronze, copper, stone and gold exhibits from the Harappan and Mohenjadaro period. Get your blessings at Bhata Sahib Gurdwara on the out skirts of Ropar.

Ropar is also the site where Maharaja Ranjit Singh signed the historic treaty with the British. While in town, explore the narrow by lanes and imbibe the atmosphere. It's also worthwhile exploring the Ropar Wetlands, a notified Ramsar site. This vast expanse of water is a scenic site and the winter home of several species of migratory water and waterside birds. A short drive from Ropar brings you to Parivar Vichora Sahib where the Tenth Guru bade farewell to his wife and his two younger sons. Not far away lies Kiratpur Sahib, a historic Gurdwara that was the cremation site of three Sikh Gurus. (45 minutes drive). And then of course, there's Anandpur Sahib (City of Joy), Guru Gobind Singh Sahib's bastion, and the site of several momentous incidents associated with him and Sikhism. Pay your respects at the main shrine, Kesgarh Sahib, which is one of the five Sikh Takhts (thrones). Anandgarh Sahib is the site of the Guru's fort, and the holy well accessed via 132 steps. Sisganj Sahib is where Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib's head was cremated with due reverence after it was carried here from Delhi by Bhai Jatia, a brave Sikh. (30 minutes drive).

You could also visit the Bhakra Dam and Naina Devi Temple. Built on the Satluj river, the dam is India's largest, and affords fine views of the water body and hills beyond. (Approximately 90 minutes drive). The Kikar Lodge is also a favorite place for many who wish to break their journey headed to various other tourist places such as Dharmshala (the abode of Dalai Lama) at 200 kms and Manali at 260 kms.
